This position involves operating dry and/or liquid vacuum trucks and roll-off trucks to pick up, haul, and unload industrial waste, including hazardous and non-hazardous materials, within various industrial facilities. The employee receives assignments from supervisors and must exercise initiative and sound judgment.

Duties

1. Connect hoses from the hose tray to tanks or mechanisms, monitor fluid extraction and hauling limits, and respond to site or customer situations.
2. Deliver vacuum services following safety procedures, operating hoses, tanks, and related equipment.
3. Read work orders and document performed work accurately.
4. Maintain electronic logs, vehicle inspections, and maintenance records.
5. Use hand tools and specialized equipment for containment, stabilization, and emergency response involving hazardous substances.
6. Participate in training to maintain skills and knowledge.
7. Respond to emergencies during and outside normal working hours, including weekends and holidays, as emergency response is a 24/7 responsibility.
8. Inspect, maintain, and repair hazardous materials equipment, assisting supervisors with record-keeping.
9. Follow safety practices to prevent injuries and maintain PPE and vehicle readiness.
10. Perform repairs, maintenance, and decontamination of response and cleaning equipment.
11. Contribute to team efforts and perform related duties as assigned.

Skills and Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to perform complex work with sustained mental and visual effort.
• Up-to-date 40-hour HAZWOPER and confined space training.
• Class A CDL with proper endorsements (air brake, Hazmat, Tanker, X), in good standing.
• TWIC Card capable.
• Ability to lift 50+ pounds repeatedly.
• Ability to work in extreme weather conditions and long shifts (up to 16 hours, 14 days in a row).
• Knowledge of emergency response, industrial cleaning, and heavy equipment operation is a plus.
• Knowledge of DOT rules and regulations.
• Reliable transportation and availability by phone; on-call 24/7.
