Job summary

Sterling Crane LLC is hiring a CDL Crane Operator at our Elko Branch. The operator will safely operate a variety of cranes, inspect equipment, maintain logs, and communicate with ground crews to ensure site safety and efficiency.

Qualified candidates will have a Class A CDL, NCCCO certification, and at least 3 years of experience with rough terrain, carry decks, crawlers, or mobile cranes. Physical requirements apply and overtime may be required.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum 3 years experience operating rough terrain, carry decks, crawlers, or mobile cranes.
  • Must hold Class A CDL and NCCCO Crane Operator License.
  • Ability to read and understand technical drawings and instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Operate cranes safely and efficiently per procedures and site guidelines.
  • Assess ground conditions and overhead obstructions; select proper crane, lift, or hoist setup.
  • Perform daily maintenance and minor repairs; keep logs of activities.
  • Maintain clear communication with ground operators via radio and signals.
  • Complete additional duties as assigned.

The crane operator is required to safely operate cranes efficiently and maintain a standard of accuracy that aligns with the company procedures and customer requirements.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Efficiently and safely operate a variety of specialized machinery in accordance with established procedures and guidelines ensuring the right selection and set up is made regarding crane, lift or hoist
  • Inspects and assesses ground conditions as well as any possible overhead obstructions
  • Maintain equipment through daily inspections, to include performance of routine maintenance and minor repairs.
  • Maintain logs and records of operational activities
  • Maintain visual and radio communications with ground operators according to best practices and site safety regulations, and respond to questions and instructions clearly and quickly
  • Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications & Skills

High school diploma or equivalent Minimum 3 years experience working with rough terrain cranes, carry decks, crawlers and mobile cranes Class A CDL Successfully pass post offer drug and physical screens and have a background that meets company requirements Dependable and reliable with flexibility to work overtime, when necessary Maintain a current NCCCO Crane Operators License for qualified equipment Ability to read and understand technical drawings, materials or instructions Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, applicable safety regulations, and to maintain records Must have strong ability work well within a team environment.

Physical Requirements

Strong depth perception and quick reaction time Must be able to lift a minimum of 100 lbs occasionally and 50 lbs regularly Visual capabilities to follow hand signals, maintain all logs and operate machinery Ability to sit for long periods of time Ability to work in a variety of weather including extreme heat and cold
