Job summary

160 Driving Academy is the nation’s largest CDL training school with 90+ yards. We seek a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer who teaches from pre-trip through passing the CDL exam, in yards and on the road, staying local and home every night.

You will work with a team of instructors, cover regional yards when needed, and maintain training records while upholding safety and curriculum standards. Competitive bonuses and benefits are outlined in our program.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• CDL Class A license with 24+ months verifiable tractor-trailer experience (Nevada exception: 5 years).
• License state must match applying location.
• Manual transmission teaching capability required.
• MVR clean; pass DOT physical and drug testing.
• Background check clearance.
• Strong communication and mentoring skills.
• Reside in applying state or relocate to facility.
• 90-day probation.

Responsibilities

• Teach CDL Class A driving skills at yards, in outdoor environments, on auto and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing on first attempt.
• Track attendance and progress; provide extra support when needed.
• Maintain training records and documentation; report incidents promptly.
• Collaborate with fellow instructors and Lead Instructor for a consistent student experience.
• Keep yard and building clean and presentable; cover nearby yards when needed.
