Job summary

160 Driving Academy is the nation’s largest CDL training school with 90+ yards across 32 states, training roughly 20,000 students yearly and boasting an 88% first-time pass rate. As a CDL Class A Instructor Trainer, you will teach students from the first pre-trip inspection to their CDL exam day, in both yard and behind-the-wheel settings at a designated yard with a team of instructors.

Qualifications

• High school graduation certificate or equivalent.
• Valid Class A CDL with minimum 24 months of verifiable Class A tractor-trailer driving experience (Nevada requires 5 years).
• Residence in the applying state or confirmed relocation.
• Manual transmission experience and ability to teach.
• MVR free of violations.
• Ability to pass DOT physical and DOT-mandated drug/alcohol screening.
• Background check clearance.
• 90-day probationary period.

Responsibilities

• Teach Class A driving skills in outdoor yards on automatic and manual transmissions.
• Guide students through pre-trip inspections, yard maneuvers, and on-road driving.
• Prepare students to pass CDL testing standards on the first attempt.
• Track student attendance and progress; provide additional support when needed.
• Maintain training records, evaluations, and documentation.
• Report incidents and accidents to lead and corporate in a timely manner.
• Work with fellow instructors to deliver a consistent student experience and follow curriculum.
• Help keep the yard and building clean and presentable.
• Cover for other instructors at nearby regional yards in emergencies.
• Adhere to a 90-day probationary period to ensure safety and curriculum compliance.
