Job summary

Canandaigua Driving School, part of Leonard’s Express, is seeking a Class A CDL Driving Instructor to train the next generation of safe commercial drivers at our Farmington, NY facility. The role offers a competitive hourly pay and full benefits.

Ideal candidates will have prior driving instructor experience, strong communication, and a patient, coaching approach. You will teach hands-on and classroom instruction for Class A/B vehicles and support student development.

Qualifications

• At least 21 years of age.
• High School Diploma or High School Equivalency.
• Minimum 2 years of Class A CDL driving experience with an active CDL and no suspensions in the past 2 years.
• Must pass NY DMV written, visual, road sign, and road tests.
• No felony convictions or crimes disqualifying under NYS regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide hands-on and classroom instruction for Class A/B vehicles.
• Teach core driving skills: turns, curves, backing, intersections, etc.
• Train students on proper safety inspections.
• Evaluate student progress and readiness for road instruction.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging learning environment.
• Perform additional duties as assigned.
