Job summary

R-2 Contractors in Gilbert, AZ is hiring a CDL Class A Heavy Haul Driver to support our civil and underground construction logistics. The role is locally-based with nightly home time, with occasional overnight OTR trips as needed.

You will transport heavy equipment between job sites, perform pre-trip inspections, and ensure secure loading in compliance with DOT rules. Requires minimum one year of verifiable heavy-haul experience and a current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL required.
• Minimum one year of verifiable heavy-haul experience.
• Current DOT Medical Examiner's Certificate required.
• Experience operating lowboy and step-deck trailers strongly preferred.
• Experience with multi-axle trailer configurations preferred.
• Knowledge of loading, weight distribution, cargo securement, and heavy equipment transportation procedures.
• Familiarity with DOT regulations and commercial vehicle safety requirements.
• Ability and willingness to perform occasional OTR assignments, including overnight travel when necessary.
• Experience operating forklifts, pallet jacks, or similar material-handling equipment preferred.
• Strong communication skills and ability to coordinate effectively with project teams and fleet personnel.
• Ability to work independently, maintain schedules, and adapt to changing project demands.
• Must pass a pre-employment drug screening and background check.

Responsibilities

• Safely transport heavy construction equipment and materials across Arizona.
• Perform occasional overnight OTR assignments.
• Operate Class A vehicles including lowboy and step-decks.
• Load and secure equipment per DOT and safety standards.
• Coordinate with dispatch and project teams for deliveries.
• Assist field crews with transportation activities.
• Maintain driver logs and delivery documentation.
• Pass pre-trip and post-trip inspections and stay compliant.
