Job summary

Charlotte Area Transit System (CATS) seeks Bus Operators to safely run routes and serve riders with courtesy and reliability.

Qualified candidates hold a Commercial CDL with Passenger Endorsement (or a CDL Permit with endorsement) and a High School Diploma or GED. Training lasts 8 weeks, after which the starting wage is 26.02 USD per hour, with extensive benefits and a shift schedule based on seniority.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a Commercial Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement or CDL Permit with Passenger Endorsement.
• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• No DWI in last 3 years and no more than one DWI on driving history.
• Excellent customer service and courteous public interaction.
• Pass DOT physical and criminal background check.

Responsibilities

• Operate buses safely on prescribed routes.
• Collect fares and transfers per procedures.
• Provide excellent customer service to transit riders.
• Input data into AVL, APC, fare-box and destination displays.
• Read maps and schedules to give route information.
