TRANSIT MANAGEMENT OF CHARLOTTE INC is hiring Bus Operators in Charlotte, NC. A Commercial Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement (or CDL Permit) is required, along with a high school diploma or GED. The role involves operating buses safely, collecting fares, and assisting passengers, including accessible riders.

The starting wage is $26.02 per hour after the 8-week paid training. Benefits include holidays, sick days, vacation after one year, healthcare, and retirement plans.

Qualifications

• Commercial Class A or B CDL with Passenger Endorsement or CDL Permit with Passenger.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• No DWI within last three years; no more than one DWI on driving history.
• Excellent customer service skills and ability to interact courteously with the public.
• Must pass Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Ability to work variable shifts, holidays and weekends; shifts based on seniority.
• Must communicate in English; bilingual in Spanish a plus.
• Must complete 8-week bus operator training.

Responsibilities

• Operate CATS transit buses safely on prescribed routes as directed.
• Record fares and transfers per procedures.
• Provide safe, courteous, timely, and dependable service to transit customers.
• Input information into AVL, APC fare-box, and destination displays.
• Read and interpret maps and schedules to assist riders.
• Assist boarding of disabled customers using accessible vehicles.
