Job summary

Ridempta in Charlotte, NC is hiring Bus Operators. You must hold a Commercial Class A/B CDL with Passenger Endorsement or a CDL Permit with Passenger Endorsement and pass a DOT physical and background check. Training lasts eight weeks, with a starting wage of 26.02 USD per hour after training.

You will operate CATS buses safely on routes, collect fares, and assist customers, including those needing accessibility support. Scheduling is based on seniority, and bilingual skills are a plus.

Qualifications

• Must possess and maintain a Commercial Class A or B CDL Driver’s License with Passenger Endorsement or CDL Permit with Passenger.
• High School Diploma or GED.
• No DWI conviction within last three years, and no more than one DWI on driving history.
• Must have excellent customer service skills and ability to deal courteously with the public.
• Requires long periods of sitting while driving/operating transit bus.
• Must successfully pass a DOT Physical (medical) examination.
• Must pass a criminal background check.
• Must work variable shifts, holidays and weekends; schedules based on seniority.
• English communication required; bilingual (Spanish) a plus.
• Must complete 8-week bus operator training.
• Starting wage is $26.02 per hour after training.

Responsibilities

• Operate CATS Transit Buses safely on prescribed scheduled routes as directed.
• Collect fares and transfers in accordance with procedures.
• Promote exemplary customer service by providing safe, courteous, timely, and dependable service.
• Input information into AVL, APC fare-box and destination displays (touch key entering).
• Read and interpret maps and complex schedules; provide route/schedule information to transit customers.
• Assist in boarding disabled customers who require accessible vehicles.
