Job summary

The Augusta Housing Authority is seeking a part-time, dependable Bus Operator to transport residents to predetermined locations. The role includes courteous assistance with boarding, ensuring passengers are seated and belted, inspecting the vehicle, and maintaining DOT-compliant records.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent.
Valid CDL required.
Completion of Commercial Driving and Defensive Driving courses, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Must maintain a good driving record.
Must be bondable.
Ability to safely transport and assist passengers entering and exiting the vehicle.
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Ability to lift approximately 20–25 pounds and bend, kneel, stretch, and climb as required.

Responsibilities

Transport residents to predetermined locations.
Provide courteous assistance to residents entering and exiting the vehicle.
Ensure passengers are safely seated and wearing safety belts.
Inspect the vehicle and report maintenance or supply needs.
Maintain required transportation records and logs in accordance with DOT requirements.
Ability to work independently while exercising sound judgment.
