Orange County Public Schools in Orlando, FL is seeking a Bus Operator Trainer to provide training and instruction to new bus monitors and to assist bus operators with all phases of commercial driver licensure.

The role involves delivering regulatory guidance, maintaining safety protocols, performing pre- and post-bus inspections, and coordinating with dispatch and transportation staff. You will attend Driver Trainer meetings to stay current with CDL requirements.

Competenze

• High school diploma or GED with at least 2 years as Bus Operator.
• Must hold a valid commercial driver's license (CDL) class B or higher with passenger and school bus endorsements.
• Ability to obtain and maintain state certification for school bus driver instructors.
• Ability to comply with safe driver program standards, medical and district certifications, dexterity testing, and re-certification annually.

• Provide training and instruction to new bus operators in all phases of commercial driver licensure.
• Respond to internal and external customers in a timely, courteous manner representing OCPS.
• Maintain attendance records, seating charts and student information; communicate via radio dispatch.
• Perform pre- and post-bus inspections to ensure safety standards and DOT compliance.
• Assist with dispatch operations and route coverage as needed.
• Attend Driver Trainer meetings to stay updated on CDL/licensing changes.
• Coordinate with transportation staff, district personnel, officials, parents.
• Report bus defects promptly to fleet maintenance.
• Ensure safe loading/unloading and use of wheelchair lifts and restraints.
