Job summary

Rock River YMCA in Loves Park, IL seeks a part-time seasonal Bus Driver to transport members safely and create a positive experience on every ride. You will operate YMCA vehicles, perform inspections, and maintain clean, ready-to-go transportation assets.

The role requires a CDL with passenger endorsement, a clean driving record, and CPR/First Aid within 90 days. Schedule varies with morning and afternoon shifts, 7:30–9:00 am and 3:15–4:30 pm.

Qualifications

• Must be 21+ to drive over state lines.
• At least 2 years of driving experience.
• Valid driver's license in good standing.
• Current Class A/B/C CDL with passenger endorsement and J08 restriction.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate YMCA vehicles, including buses and vans, in accordance with policies and state laws.
• Transport members while following all passenger capacity and safety requirements.
• Complete pre- and post-trip inspections, documenting mileage, fuel levels, and maintenance needs.
• Maintain clean, organized vehicles and ensure readiness for each trip.
• Promote safety by keeping first aid supplies stocked and reviewing bus rules with passengers.
• Build positive, friendly relationships with members, families, staff, and volunteers.
• Communicate regularly with supervisors and team members regarding schedules and needs.
• Ensure compliance with licensing requirements, including CDL and passenger endorsements.
• Report vehicle issues, damaged equipment, or safety concerns promptly.
