Job summary

Airgas in Cheshire, CT is seeking a Local Delivery Driver (CDL B) to safely deliver gas cylinders and hard goods on designated routes. Monday–Friday, day shift with comprehensive benefits and bonuses.

Responsibilities include operating a Class B Hazmat vehicle, loading/unloading, documenting transactions, and performing vehicle inspections. Customer service and safety are essential in representing Airgas on every delivery.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Must have a valid Class B or better CDL.
• Must have HAZMAT endorsement.
• Successful completion of Airgas Background and Motor Vehicle Check.
• Must have at least 1 year of verifiable commercial driving experience within the last 5 years.
• DOT Clearinghouse verification from previous employers is required.
• Ability to routinely lift 25 – 75 lbs., and occasionally lift 76 to greater than 100 lbs w/ the use of equipment.
• Willingness to work outdoors in changing temperatures.
• Ability to maintain a drug-free workplace.
• Adherence to safety regulations and policies.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class B Hazmat vehicle to deliver compressed and liquid gas cylinders, as well as hard goods, along designated routes.
• Collect empty cylinders from customers and address inquiries to ensure complete satisfaction.
• Record all transactions accurately and obtain necessary customer signatures.
• Handle the loading and unloading of all materials.
• Safety and Maintenance: Conduct thorough pre- and post-trip vehicle inspections, noting any issues to ensure full safety compliance and maintaining the vehicle's condition.
• Professionalism: Maintain a professional appearance and serve as a representative of the company during all deliveries.
