Job summary

Xylem Tree Experts and Kendall Vegetation Services is seeking an Equipment Operator with a CDL-B to safely operate heavy machinery and remove branches and tree material from electrical lines in Birmingham, AL. You will use a grapple, perform daily equipment checks, and support the crew on day-to-day tasks.

The role requires a CDL-B, ability to travel for storm restoration, and a commitment to safety; a high school diploma is preferred and background checks/drug screens are required.

Qualifications

• Heavy equipment operation experience preferred.
• CDL-B license and ability to pass background check and drug screen.
• Able to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must travel for storm restoration work when needed.
• Must have and maintain a DOT Medical Card for trucks over 26,000 lbs.

Responsibilities

• Follow safe practices and enforce rules.
• Assist in equipment and materials prep as directed by Foreperson.
• Operate equipment as directed by Foreperson.
• Help maintain and repair equipment and tools used in operations.
• Assist other crew members and take a leadership role when required.
• Cleans up and disposes of all debris.
• Sets up barriers, warning signs, flags, markers, etc. to protect employees and the public.
• Keeps informed on new equipment, specs, procedures, and safety policies.
• Track and report mileage to Foreperson.
• Perform duties for storm work as needed.
