Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Russellville, KY is hiring a Yard Driver for 1st shift to move trailers to/from docks and stage loads for over-the-road drivers. CDL-A and DOT compliance are required, with a DOT physical and drug screen.

HS diploma or equivalent, 6 months to 1 year of commercial driving experience, and teamwork oriented good communication are essential. We offer health insurance, profit-sharing, and a stable work environment.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• Basic reading, writing and math skills.
• 6 months - 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle.
• Must possess a valid class A CDL.
• Must pass a D.O.T. physical examination and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip checks on trailers to ensure the trailers are in compliance with DOT requirements and Carpenter Co. standards.
• Maintain adherence to State and Federal traffic law.
• Report all damage and unsafe conditions to management prior to trailers being released for shipment.
• Coordinate the movement of trailers with Dock Supervisors, Security Guards and Drivers.
• Safely move trailers as required.
• Assist loading dock with loading and unloading trailers.
• May assist garage personnel and drivers with fueling and cleaning equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness around the loading and docking area.May monitor and check in trucks and deliveries.
• May perform duties of Local Driver
