Job summary

Carpenter Co. in Russellville, KY seeks a Yard Driver for 1st shift to move trailers to and from docks, stage loaded trailers for over-the-road deliveries, and support loading/unloading activities.

The role emphasizes safe, DOT-compliant operations, daily coordination with dock supervisors and drivers, and tidy, efficient work aboard the yard. Qualified candidates have a High School diploma or better, a valid Class A CDL, 6 months to 1 year of commercial driving experience, and will pass a DOT

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent.
• 6 months to 1 year of experience driving a commercial vehicle.
• Must possess a valid class A CDL.
• Must pass a D.O.T. physical examination and drug screen.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip checks on trailers to ensure the trailers are in compliance with DOT requirements and Carpenter Co. standards.
• Maintain adherence to State and Federal traffic law.
• Report all damage and unsafe conditions to management prior to trailers being released for shipment.
• Coordinate the movement of trailers with Dock Supervisors, Security Guards and Drivers.
• Safely move trailers as required.
• Assist loading dock with loading and unloading trailers.
• May assist garage personnel and drivers with fueling and cleaning equipment.
• Maintain cleanliness around the loading and docking area.
• May monitor and check in trucks and deliveries.
• *May perform duties of Local Driver*
• May occasionally relieve security guard as needed.
