Job summary

Midwest Perma-Column Inc. in Edwards, IL, is seeking an experienced CDL Truck Driver to move materials from the manufacturing facility to customer sites and unload safely.

The ideal candidate holds a Class A CDL with Air Brake Endorsement, is available to travel overnight 2–3 days per week, and demonstrates a proven safe driving record coupled with strong communication skills and teamwork.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Plan daily and weekly deliveries in compliance with DOT Hours of Service rules
• Perform pre-trip inspection of equipment and cargo
• Coordinate with Production Manager for load changes and scheduling
• Assist Maintenance in equipment upkeep and issue reporting
• Mentor new drivers and promote safety, quality and profitability
• Maintain a teamwork environment and communicate with the Production Manager
• Demonstrate strong customer service focus and adherence to budgets
• Execute other duties as assigned

CDL Truck Drivers are essential in ensuring that materials are delivered according to Midwest Perma-Column's quality standards. Drivers are responsible for moving materials from our manufacturing facility to customer sites and unloading the materials in an efficient, profitable manner within a culture of safety, including adherence to rigid DOT compliance.

Essential Functions

• Plans for daily and weekly deliveries in compliance with DOT HOS rules.
• Performs pre-trip inspection of equipment and cargo.
• Cooperates with the Production Manager where changes to loads and/or scheduling are required.
• Assists Maintenance in maintaining equipment by reporting any issues early.
• Helps mentor new drivers.
• Maintains constant awareness of safety, efficiency, & profitability of the company, displays flexibility and out of the box thinking capability to solve problems.
• Communicates clearly and frequently with the Production Manager.
• Exhibits customer service focus with an emphasis on quality and timeliness.
• Adheres to processes that ensure costs are in line with projected budgets.
• Creates and maintains a teamwork environment to support company objectives.
• Other duties as assigned

Required Education and Experience

• Valid Class A CDL with Air Brake Endorsement
• Available to travel overnight two to three days a week.
• Standard weight lifting requirements - 50 - 75 lbs
• Proficiency in understanding and complying with DOT regulations.
• Promotes teamwork and cooperation among driver team and others.
• Proven safe driving record and DOT compliance.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to drive for extended periods and work at the unloading site in varying weather conditions.
• Displays dedication and enthusiasm to create a workplace environment that values safety, quality, and continual process improvement and profitability.
• Starting pay at $0.65 per mile, plus bonus opportunities
