Job summary

Russel Metals is hiring a full-time CDL A Truck Driver based in Dubuque, IA. You will safely operate company trucks to transport steel and metal products to and from customer locations, facilities, and warehouses, while maintaining logs and paperwork.

You will perform pre-trip/post-trip inspections, secure loads, and interact professionally with customers and internal teams. Regional routes and occasional overtime may apply; outdoor yard work may occur when not driving.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours of service.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections and basic troubleshooting.
• Ability to lift/load/unload materials and work in outdoor yard conditions.
• Professional communication and customer service skills.

Role Description

This is a full-time, on-site CDL A Truck Driver role based in Dubuque, IA. The CDL A Truck Driver will safely operate company trucks to transport steel and metal products to and from customer locations, warehouses, and other Russel Metals facilities. Daily responsibilities include conducting pre-trip and post-trip inspections, securing loads according to safety and regulatory requirements, and maintaining accurate delivery, shipping, and receiving documentation. The driver will interact professionally with customers and internal teams, assist with loading and unloading as needed, and follow all company policies, Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, and local traffic laws. The role may involve regional routes, occasional overtime, and working in warehouse or yard environments when not driving.

Qualifications

• Valid CDL Class A license with a clean driving record and proven experience operating commercial vehicles.
• Strong knowledge of DOT regulations, hours-of-service rules, and safe load securement practices for steel and metal products.
• Ability to perform vehicle inspections, basic troubleshooting, and communicate maintenance needs in a timely manner.
• Capacity to safely handle physical tasks such as lifting, loading, and unloading materials, and working in outdoor yard conditions.
• Professional communication and customer service skills, with the ability to represent Russel Metals positively at customer sites.
• Attention to detail for completing logs, delivery paperwork, and following routing and scheduling instructions accurately.

• High school diploma or equivalent; prior experience in metals distribution, industrial transportation, or related fields is an asset.
