Job summary

McLane is seeking a Trainee Component Driver to join a nationwide logistics team. You will learn essential driver functions, assist in deliveries, and gain exposure to warehouse operations during development toward a McLane Driver role.

You will train under supervision, follow safety rules, and grow in a role that emphasizes accurate delivery, customer service, and compliance with DOT standards and company policies.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• Possess a Class A CDL.
• Be at least 21 years of age.
• Meet eligibility requirements in the McLane Transfer and Promotion Policy.
• Ability and willingness to load/unload and deliver all products as ordered.
• Read and comprehend labels, instructions, and bills of lading.
• Perform mathematical calculations to verify quantities.
• Communicate with customers, management and teammates.
• Safely drive a tractor-trailer with related equipment and devices.
• Ability to read, write and understand English for job tasks.

Responsibilities

• Maneuver tractor into position to attach trailer and secure lines.
• Operate truck safely in compliance with regulations and policies.
• Inspect tractor-trailer equipment and submit DOT report if needed.
• Use DDH and document receipts, temps, and exceptions for transport.
• Ride with Driver Trainer to learn regulations and driving maneuvers.
• Maintain driver logs per DOT rules and record temperatures.
• Assist in unloading and delivering product to customer sites.
• Provide on-time delivery and issue customer credits as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
