Job summary

Qualdoc seeks a CDL-A Track Equipment Operator to support railroad track maintenance, repair, and construction, including emergency response at derailment sites. The role combines heavy equipment operation, physical labor, and basic maintenance, with about 10% driving and extensive on-site work.

Candidates must be comfortable with unpredictable schedules, on-call emergencies, and travel to local and out-of-area job sites. A full benefits package is included.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with a good driving record.
• Basic mechanical skills including oil changes or minor repairs.
• Experience in construction labor or a similar physically demanding role.
• Ability to perform hands-on outdoor work in job-site environments.
• Willingness to travel for local and out-of-area assignments.
• Ability to respond to emergency calls at any time, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
• Ability to complete required qualification tests, training, and safety programs.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers, and equipment.
• Drive tractor-trailers to and from job sites and inspect loads.
• Verify transport permits and load specs for oversized equipment.
• Load, unload, move, and stage equipment for track maintenance and repairs.
• Assist with railroad track repair, maintenance, and emergency response.
• Operate heavy equipment when qualified (cranes, backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, loaders).
• Assist with crane assembly, inspection, operation, and loading.
• Perform rigging tasks using chains, cables, and winches.
