Socket.dev in Kansas City, MO is seeking a Class A CDL Equipment Operator to support railroad track construction, maintenance, repair, and emergency recovery work.

This hands-on role focuses on operating heavy equipment, performing inspections, and assisting with track projects at multiple job sites, with 24/7 on-call availability.

Starting pay is $26.00 per hour, with overtime and per diem; full-time direct hire with substantial overtime potential and travel requirements.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• Experience in construction or physical labor.
• Ability to operate heavy equipment safely.
• Willingness to work 24/7 on-call and travel as needed.
• Must pass drug screen and background check.

Responsibilities

• Perform track maintenance, repair, construction, grading, and new-build work.
• Travel to job sites and assist with emergency recovery and rerailing.
• Complete pre-trip and post-trip inspections of trucks and equipment.
• Safely transport, load, unload, and secure equipment.
• Operate heavy equipment when qualified (backhoes, bulldozers, excavators, loaders, cranes, rail-bound equipment).
• Assist with crane setup and rigging using chains, cables, and winches.
• Support with rerailing, load transfers, and site cleanup.
