Job summary

The Allen County War Memorial Coliseum is seeking a Maintenance Worker I to perform maintenance and repair on county roads and highways under the Highway Department. You will operate trucks and heavy equipment, inspect machinery, and assist with drainage, snow removal, and road repairs.

The role requires a CDL Class A and a high school diploma or GED, with safety training and forklift certification preferred. Standard hours are 7:00 am to 3:30 pm, with overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED or equivalent.
• CDL with Class A endorsement for county vehicles and equipment.
• Knowledge of patching highways and OSHA rules.
• Basic roadway construction knowledge.
• Forklift certification preferred and safety training.

Responsibilities

• Operate trucks and heavy machinery to maintain or construct roads, culverts, bridges, and drainage structures.
• Inspect equipment before and after use for proper fluid levels and safety.
• Replace catch basins and repair field tile for drainage purposes.
• Provide traffic control and flagging at road construction sites.
• Perform asphalt repairs, mowing, drainage tasks, snow removal, and other maintenance duties.
• Load, transport, and spread materials such as crushed stone, sand, salt using trucks.
• Maintain work reports and adhere to DOT safety regulations.
