Job summary

Comal County seeks a heavy equipment/road maintenance worker to perform routine and skilled tasks, operate vehicles and tools, and interact with the public in outdoor environments. Duties include roadway maintenance with a rotary broom, right‑of‑way maintenance such as tree trimming, and traffic control/flagging per the Texas MUTCD.

Must learn safe operation and follow the Accident Prevention Plan. Requires a High School diploma or GED and at least 1 year of roadway experience; must hold Class A

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED required; at least 1 year of roadway maintenance/related experience.
• Must be able to read & understand Safety Data Sheets and applicable safety rules & regulations.
• Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL with tank vehicle and air brake endorsements; provide a 3-year driving history.

Responsibilities

• Assist with roadway maintenance using a rotary broom and other equipment.
• Assist with right‑of‑way maintenance including tree trimming safety awareness.
• Assist with traffic control signage and flagging per Texas MUTCD.
• Demonstrate and learn use of crew tools and vehicles; perform preventive maintenance.
• Follow the Comal County Accident Prevention Plan.
