Cameron County is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to perform maintenance, repair, and construction of road and drainage infrastructure. Operate a range of equipment and maintain records of work and materials.

A high school diploma or GED and four years of related experience are required. A Texas Class B CDL with tank and air brakes endorsement is preferred; safety and weather readiness are essential.

Mansioni

• Operates and maintains light to heavy road construction equipment (graders, pavers, rollers, loaders, backhoes, tractors).
• Inspects and checks equipment with daily checklist; identifies safety risks in work area.
• Estimates materials for roads/culverts; performs minor maintenance and patching of roadways.
• Uses survey level equipment to set and verify ground elevations for road work.
• Installs culverts and performs ditch work; operates excavator for shoulder widening and drainage tasks.
• Provides flagger assistance; handles power tools safely and aids in clean-up of debris.
• Transports materials/equipment; maintains tools and machinery in good condition.
• On-call/on-duty to assist community during severe weather events.
