Job summary

CK Transportation, Inc. seeks experienced CDL-A truck drivers for regional flatbed routes around Columbia, SC. Drivers will coordinate freight with dispatch to keep loads moving, return home weekly for resets, and haul steel, coils, pipe, lumber, machinery, and construction materials.

Regional freight continuity and organized route coordination give experienced flatbed drivers a more consistent way to run throughout the week. This CDL-A truck driver position moves established flatbed freight across regional lanes, with dispatch planning focused on keeping loads lined up and maintaining productive miles. Drivers haul steel, coils, pipe, lumber, machinery, and construction materials while returning home each week for a scheduled reset.

Regional Route Coordination

Freight is planned across established regional routes rather than relying entirely on last-minute load assignments. Dispatch coordinates upcoming freight whenever possible so drivers can transition from one load to the next with better visibility into the week.

Because this is a flatbed operation, proper load preparation remains a priority. Class A CDL drivers secure freight using chains, straps, binders, and tarps based on the specific commodity. Pre-trip and post-trip inspections are part of the daily routine, and drivers are expected to maintain professional securement standards on every load.

Earnings and Additional Pay

Weekly Pay ranges from $1,300 to $1,500 based on miles, load type, and performance. Flatbed-related work and delays are compensated separately where applicable, giving CDL A drivers additional earning opportunities beyond the base mileage rate.

Weekly Schedule

CDL-A truck drivers return home each week for a minimum 34-hour reset. Depending on freight timing and route completion, many drivers receive approximately 46 to 53 hours at home. The regional operating structure is designed to support both steady freight movement and consistent weekly scheduling.

Assigned Equipment

Drivers operate Peterbilt 579 tractors averaging approximately 1.5 years old. Trucks feature high-roof sleepers, inverters, SiriusXM capability, TV mounts, dual drive tires, and Espar bunk heaters. Forward-facing cameras monitor roadway conditions without recording inside the cab.

Driver Qualifications

A valid Class A CDL and current medical certification are required. Applicants need at least 12 months of recent OTR flatbed experience along with established cargo securement skills and a satisfactory driving record. A TWIC card is required, or the driver must be willing to obtain one.
