Job summary

Qualdoc in the Richmond area is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to transport and operate heavy equipment for railroad emergency response and construction. The role covers derailment recovery, rerailing, load transfer, track maintenance, and repair, combining driving with field operations and hands-on equipment work.

Starting pay is $26.00 per hour, with overtime after 40 hours and potential per diem and travel pay.

Qualifications

  • Class A CDL with a good driving record is required.
  • Experience in construction labor or a physically demanding role.
  • Must complete required qualification, training and safety programs.
  • 24/7 availability for emergency service calls, including weekends and holidays.
  • Ability to work safely in active field and railroad environments.

Responsibilities

  • Complete pre- and post-trip inspections of trucks, trailers and equipment per DOT rules.
  • Drive tractor-trailers to job sites and inspect loads and equipment.
  • Verify permits for overweight/oversize loads.
  • Load, unload and transport equipment for rerailing and track work.
  • Assist with crane assembly, inspection, operation and disassembly.
  • Operate equipment such as cranes, backhoes, grapple trucks and rail-bound equipment.
  • Support lifting, rerailing and track maintenance activities.
  • Follow safety policies and maintain clean work areas.
