Job summary

Socket.dev is seeking a Class A CDL Driver to transport and operate heavy equipment for railroad emergency response and construction. The role mixes commercial driving, equipment operation, and material handling on active track sites.

Responsibilities include inspections, load handling, and rigging with cranes and other heavy equipment. This position requires 24/7 availability, including weekends and holidays, and offers significant overtime with hourly pay of $26.00 plus overtime.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid CDL-A license and good driving record.
• Willingness to work 24/7 emergency response including weekends/holidays.
• Experience in construction labor or physically demanding roles is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform pre- and post-trip inspections per DOT regulations.
• Drive tractor-trailers to work sites and inspect loads/equipment.
• Verify permits for overweight/oversize loads.
• Assist with crane assembly, inspection, operation, and disassembly.
• Operate cranes, backhoes, dump trucks, excavators and other equipment as qualified.
• Support rerailing, load transfer, track maintenance, and railroad construction activities.
• Use hydraulic tools, welding/cutting torches, and hand tools.
• Maintain readiness of vehicles/equipment and report issues.
