Job summary

Testa Produce, Inc. in Chicago, IL is seeking a reliable Delivery Driver to transport produce to restaurant and food-service customers.

This role requires a CDL A or B license, a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate, and adherence to DOT regulations as well as safe driving practices. You'll start evenings, handle loading/unloading, and maintain logs and vehicle inspections while traveling a route around the greater Chicagoland area, including Indiana.

Qualifications

• Must have a CDL A or B license and a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate.
• Must be at least 21 years old.
• MVR and criminal history will be evaluated.
• Must meet DOT testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations.

Responsibilities

• Drive a company-referred truck to assigned customer locations.
• Refuel the truck as needed to complete the route.
• Maintain the cleanliness of the cab.
• Use a broom to sweep dirt and debris from the cargo area of cargo area.
• Perform inspections of the truck as required.
• Keep logs current and submit to supervisor weekly; one logbook only.
• Operate pallet jack to move pallets of product as necessary.
• Position loading ramp for unloading and proper storage when driving.
• Stack boxes of produce onto hand truck.
• Travel up ramp with empty hand cart; unload freight as needed.
• Collect money from customers as necessary.
• Speak and write English satisfactorily.
• Maintain regular full-time attendance and work outside normal hours.
• Perform special projects as assigned by the Distribution Director– Testa Produce.

Job description

Founded in 1991, Testa Produce, Inc. is the successor entity to the original Dominick Testa and Sons.Testa Produce's roots date back to 1912, with founder Dominick Testa selling stalks of celery door-to-door out of a basket. The creation of the Chicago Terminal Produce Market provided a central selling location for years. As the restaurant industry evolved, so did Testa Produce. In 2011, Testa expanded yet again and moved into its new home: a 91,300 square foot facility to accommodate an ever-growing list of restaurant, hotel and food service customers.

Essential Functions:

• Drive a company-referred truck to assigned customer locations
• Refuel the truck as needed to complete the route
• Maintain the cleanliness of the cab
• Use a broom to sweep dirt and debris from the cargo area of truck
• Perform inspections of the truck as required
• If logbooksare required , keep logs current and submit themto supervisor weekly. Only onelogbookshould be maintained and should be made available to an official enforcement upon request .
• Operate pallet jack to move pallets of product as necessary to load onto truck or reposition in warehouse
• Position the loading ramp for unloading and for proper storage when driving
• Stack boxes of produce onto hand truck
• Wheel hand truck loaded with produce out back of truck, down ramp, and place location specified by customer
• Travel up ramp with empty hand cart
• Collect money from customers as necessary
• Comply with all employee responsibilities, rules of conduct, and company policies
• Speak and write English satisfactory
• Maintain regular and satisfactory full-time attendance
• Perform work outside of normal business hours as needed and required
• Perform special projects as assigned by the DistributionDirector– Testa Produce

Competencies, Education and Experience:

• Must have a CDL A or B license and a valid Medical Examiner's Certificate
• Mustbe at least 21 years old
• MVR and criminal history will be evaluated
• Must meet Department of Transportation (DOT) testing and physical requirements and be knowledgeable of DOT regulations

Home Time, Route & Schedule:

• Home Time:Home Daily
• Schedule:Monday - Saturday (5-day work week)
• Off Sundays and 1-day off during the week
• StartTime: 6:00PM and 11:00PM. (Two openings)
• Route: Around the greater Chicagoland, IL, and surrounding areas, including IN
• Level of Touch: Load & Unload/ Touch Freight
• Must be able to use: 2-Wheeler/Dolly, breakdown Dolly, Manuel Pallet Jack & Small Power Jack
• Routes can have 8-15 stops per day.

Physical Demands:

• Stand or walk forlong periodsof time
• Occasionallylift upto 50lbs
• Stand or sit for long periods of time
• Work in cold or wet cooler conditions for extended periods of time
• Moving up and down ramp for extended periods of time

Compensation:

• $26.00 - $28.00/hour
