Job summary

Testa Produce, Inc. in Chicago is seeking a Warehouse Associate to perform general warehouse activities, including loading, unloading, picking, sorting, and moving products.

You will operate forklifts and RF scanners, transport orders to shipping, and maintain a clean, safe workspace. Candidates should have a high school diploma or GED, at least 1 year of warehouse experience, and be able to read and communicate in English.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• 1 year of recent experience in a warehouse or manufacturing environment preferred.
• Experience with power industrial equipment including forklifts and RF scanners preferred.

Responsibilities

• Perform general warehouse activities: loading, unloading, selecting, sorting, and moving products.
• Safely operate forklifts to move products within the facility and stock/pull merchandise.
• Use RF scanners to verify orders and ensure accuracy of picked items.
• Transport filled orders to shipping areas for processing and maintain a clean, organized workspace.
• Follow OSHA and Food Safety regulations and communicate any issues to supervision.

Job description

Founded in 1991, Testa Produce, Inc. is the successor entity to the original Dominick Testa and Sons. Testa Produce's roots date back to 1912, with founder Dominick Testa selling stalks of celery door-to-door out of a basket. The creation of the Chicago Terminal Produce Market provided a central selling location for years. As the restaurant industry evolved, so did Testa Produce. In 2011, Testa expanded yet again and moved into its new home: a 91,300 square foot facility to accommodate an ever-growing list of restaurant, hotel and food service customers.

Essential Functions:

• Perform general physical activities in a warehouse, including loading, unloading, selecting, sorting, and moving products and materials manually
• Safelyoperatethe forklift to move products throughout the facility including pulling and stocking of product
• Utilize powered industrial trucks, including forklifts (including stand-up) and pallet rider jacks to transfer merchandise from one location to another
• Transport filled and completed orders to the designated shipping assembly areas for further processing
• Maintain a clean and organized workspace to promote safety and efficiency in the warehouse
• Select customer orders accurately and efficiently using the Warehouse Management System (WMS)
• Work closely with the Dispatch/Warehouse team to ensure the correct handling of picked orders
• Perform quality checks to ensure the accuracy of picked orders and report any issues or discrepancies to the supervisor
• Comply with all applicable OSHA and Food Safety regulations
• Ability to work with others in a team environment and independently
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently to effectively communicate with others

Education, and Experience:

• High school diploma or GED
• At least 1 year of recent and successful experience performing the above functions in a significant manufacturing or warehouse/distribution environment. Prior distribution or food industry experience preferred
• Experience with Power Industrial Equipment including forklifts and RF scanner, preferred

Compensation:

• $16.60/hour

Schedule:

• Monday – Thursday (Friday and Sundayoff)
• Some mandatory Holiday work included
