US Foods Norwich CT is hiring a Yard Jockey CDL to support our logistics operations. You will coordinate with dispatchers and mechanics, couple and prepare trailers, and move trailers for nightly shuttle operations.

The role requires a valid CDL Class A, English proficiency, and adherence to safety standards. Training and benefits begin on day one, with opportunities for overtime based on workload.

As a Yard Jockey CDL, you’ll be at the heart of operations, expertly coordinating the movement and management of trailers. Your effective communication and proactive approach will be key in collaborating with Dispatchers, Warehouse Supervisors, and mechanics to maintain seamless workflow and operational excellence.Key ResponsibilitiesCommunicate & Collaborate: Coordinate with Dispatchers for assignments and work with mechanics on equipment needs.Couple & Prepare: Ensure equipment is coupled, ready for use, and prepared for nightly shuttle operations.Move & Load: Safely relocate, load, and unload trailers between buildings and environments.Stage & Set Up: Configure trailers for backhaul and position them for quick unloading.Engage: Attend required meetings and adapt to additional duties as necessary, ensuring a safe work environment.Adaptability: All other duties assigned by management.Physical RequirementsLift/carry/push/pull/lower 20 to 80+ lbs. of product repetitively during each shift required.Driving & working in inclement weather conditions with frequent stops (10+ per shift) required.Continuously grasp objects & manipulate objects. Frequently sit, stand, walk, drive, climb/balance, stoop/squat, kneel/bend, bend, reach above shoulder, twist, and use manual dexterity.QualificationsRegister to the FMCSA Clearinghouse*Must be at least 21 years of age.Must have valid CDL Class A issued by the state of legal residence with necessary endorsements and DOT qualifications.Minimum of six months commercial driving experience preferred.Ability to operate manual transmission preferred; may be required in specific locations.Must be able to read and communicate in the English language - able to hold a conversation, to understand highway traffic signs and signals, to respond to official inquiries, and to enter information on reports and records.About US FOODSClick here to learn more!*Registering to the FMCSA Clearinghouse is a requirement by the Department of Transportation.
