Job summary

Carpenter Co. is seeking an Hourly, Local CDL Driver to join our Lakeland, FL Manufacturing Plant. The driver will safely and efficiently deliver finished products to customers at various locations, while complying with DOT rules and maintaining accurate logs.

Requirements include a valid CDL-A, 1 year of delivery experience, and the ability to work flexible hours. The role involves manual lifting and occasional loading/unloading of goods in a fast-paced production environment.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Valid CDL-A driver's license.
• One year prior driving and product delivery experience.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Ability to drive manual transmission trucks.

Responsibilities

• Receive and understand instructions from Dispatcher, Traffic Supervisor, and external customers.
• Maintain positive relationships with all customers.
• Communicate information effectively to others.
• Transport and deliver materials and services per customer requirements.
• Follow State and Federal DOT rules and regulations governing operation of tractor trailers and transportation of Company products and materials.
• Maintain accurate DOT Logs.
• Deliver product as scheduled.
• Assist in loading and unloading.

Carpenter Co. is currently seeking an Hourly, Local CDL Driver to join our Lakeland, FL Manufacturing Plant. The successful candidate will be expected to safely and efficiently deliver finished products to customers at various locations.

Carpenter Co. employees are committed to working hard to ensure production goals are met while maintaining operational excellence. As an Hourly CDL Driver, you will be expected to communicate politely and professionally with Company personnel, and most importantly with external customers. Class A CDL Drivers perform their work using a Company truck, face exposure to weather conditions, and visit various customer locations. Challenges may include on-time delivery of products to customers while complying with various state and Federal laws and regulations, such as DOT regulations, etc.

Essential Functions:

• Receive and understand instructions from Dispatcher, Traffic Supervisor, and external customers.
• Maintain positive relationships with all customers.
• Ability to effectively communicate and relay information to others.
• Possess and maintain a clean MVR within Company's guidelines.
• Properly follow administrative procedures regarding billing and manifest paperwork.
• Transport and deliver materials and services per customer requirements.
• Know, understand, and maintain compliance to all State and Federal DOT rules and regulations governing the operation of tractor trailers and transportation of Company products and materials.
• Report conditions that may affect the operations of the trucks and trailers.
• Maintain accurate DOT Logs.
• Deliver product as scheduled.
• Assist in loading and unloading.
• Lifting more than 75 lbs.
• Perform required checks to equipment and/or vehicle used at start, during, and end of use.
• Fueling and checking of equipment's fluid levels required of unit, or units used.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Possess and maintain a valid CDL-A driver's license.
• One year prior driving and product delivery experience required to perform the job. Specific on the job training is provided.
• Previous employment checks must be acceptable.
• Basic reading, writing, and math skills.
• Ability to work flexible hours.
• Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.
• Ability to drive manual transmission trucks
