Job summary

Salt City Trucking is seeking a CDL-A Local Intermodal Driver in the St. Louis, MO area. You will haul containers on chassis within a 300-mile radius, with a mix of drop-and-hook and live/load freight and be home daily.

Responsibilities include local intermodal operations, slip-seat driving with day cab equipment, and staying flexible for traffic and freight volume. Valid CDL-A and 22+ years old required; 3 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience preferred.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL required.
• Minimum age 22.
• At least 3 months verifiable tractor-trailer experience.
• Clean driving record and DOT requirements met.

Responsibilities

• Local intermodal operation within 300 miles of St. Louis.
• Haul containers on chassis and manage one of multiple loads.
• Perform drop-and-hook, live-load, live-unload, or preloaded freight as assigned.
• No hand unloading; slip-seat operation with day cab equipment.
• Be flexible to traffic, weather, and freight volume.

Pay Details & Schedule

• Average Weekly Pay: $1,100+
• $0.56 per mile on loaded and empty miles
• $40 plus mileage on loads with 1–49 loaded miles
• Additional $20 pay, as applicable
• Pay is based on completed loads and paid in increments
• Paid weekly
• Day and night shifts available
• Schedule varies based on operational needs
• Home daily

Job Requirements

• Valid Class A CDL
• Minimum 3 months of verifiable tractor-trailer experience
• Must be at least 22 years old
• No more than 3 moving violations in the past 3 years, subject to restrictions
• No more than 1 DOT-recordable preventable accident in the past 3 years
• Must meet DOT Drug & Alcohol Clearinghouse requirements
• Must meet English-language requirements for safe driving, communication, and required documentation
• Clean driving record
• Valid DOT Medical Card
• No SAP drivers
