Job summary

Universal Logistics Holdings is hiring drivers to operate commercial trucks from the Houston terminal, with a Monday–Friday schedule and 6am start. Expect 50–60 hours per week and home daily.

You will handle loading, logs, and customer delivery while maintaining DOT compliance and strong safety standards. The role offers comprehensive benefits after 90 days, including BCBS medical, dental & vision, paid holidays, vacation, personal time, and a 401K plan.

Qualifications

• Class A CDL is required.
• 6 months of verifiable driving experience in the last year.
• Clean driving record with no DUI/OWI in the last 5 years.
• Rail experience is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Operate commercial trucks safely and legally.
• Perform pre-trip and post-trip inspections and report issues.
• Load/unload cargo and secure loads.
• Deliver to destinations within scheduled timeframes.
• Maintain logs of driving and rest periods (DOT compliance).
• Communicate delays or route changes to dispatch.
• Complete delivery documentation accurately.
• Follow planned routes and adjust for traffic/weather.
• Provide customer service at delivery sites.
• Keep equipment clean and report repairs.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Operate commercial trucks safely and in compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and report any maintenance issues.
• Load and unload cargo as needed, ensuring proper securing of loads.
• Transport goods to assigned destinations within scheduled timeframes.
• Maintain electronic or paper logs of working hours, driving hours, and rest periods (DOT compliance).
• Communicate with dispatch regarding delays, incidents, or route changes.
• Ensure accurate completion of delivery documentation (bills of lading, delivery receipts, etc.).
• Follow planned routes while adjusting for traffic or weather conditions.
• Provide excellent customer service at delivery sites.
• Keep equipment clean and report any necessary repairs.

REQUIREMENTS:

• Must be at least 21 years of age
• Prior rail experience preferred but not required
• Class A CDL
• 6 months of verifiable experience in the last year
• Clean driving record with proven safe-driving historyNo DUI/OWI in the last 5 years
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years
• No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years
