Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. is seeking a CDL A Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice I in Indiana. This full-time role involves operating specialized heavy equipment used in railroad derailment response, with weekly pay and company-paid benefits.

Training is provided and travel up to 50% is expected for emergency response operations across a broad territory. You will work alongside experienced crews, learn to operate cranes and recovery tools, and support derailed railcar recovery while maintaining

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Willingness to travel up to 50%.
• Ability to pass background and pre-employment screenings.
• Physically capable of lifting up to 100 lb occasionally and 50 lb frequently.
• Comfortable working outdoors in all weather and around heavy equipment.

Responsibilities

• Transport specialized heavy equipment via tractor-trailers and escort vehicles.
• Assist with railroad derailment recovery operations.
• Learn and operate heavy recovery equipment under supervision.
• Handle rigging gear, chains, wire rope, and lifting blocks.
• Climb on/below railcars and locomotives during recovery operations.
• Perform equipment setup, maintenance, and inspections.
• Use hand/power tools, welding equipment and cutting torches as needed.
• Work safely around active railroads, bridges and water environments.
• Follow all safety procedures and company standards.
