Job summary

Hulcher Services Inc. is seeking a CDL A Heavy Equipment Operator Apprentice I to join our 24/7 emergency railroad response team. The role offers hourly pay of $26.84–$28.52, overtime opportunities, weekly pay, company-paid benefits, and paid training as you learn to operate cranes, hydraulics, and other heavy recovery gear.

Travel up to 50% and full-time, year-round employment are provided, with on-call rotations for derailment response and field support across assigned regions.

Qualifications

• Valid Class A CDL with no restrictions.
• Valid driver's license.
• Ability to travel up to 50%.
• Willingness to work in a 24/7 emergency response environment.
• Ability to pass background screenings and pre-employment requirements.
• Physically demanding work, including lifting up to 100 pounds occasionally and 50 pounds frequently.
• Outdoor work in all weather conditions; working at heights and around water.
• Experience in heavy equipment operation, rigging, welding or related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Transport specialized heavy equipment using tractor-trailers and escort vehicles.
• Assist with railroad derailment recovery operations.
• Learn to operate heavy recovery equipment under supervision.
• Handle rigging gear, chains, and recovery tools.
• Work around active railroads and industrial environments.
• Follow safety procedures and company standards.
