Job summary

The City of Buffalo seeks a Heavy Equipment Operator to operate a wide range of specialized and heavy-duty machinery, including back hoes, dump trucks with plows, and bulldozers. You will follow work orders and supervisor directions, perform basic maintenance, and ensure safe operation on active city job sites.

Minimum qualifications include one year of full-time experience with heavy equipment and a valid Class A CDL. Training on excavators may be required during employment.

Qualifications

• ONE YEAR of full-time experience operating specialized heavy-duty equipment including hi-lift with bucket, tractor-trailer, and dump truck with a wing plow or plow.
• Verification of experience, affidavit from employer, must be presented at time of filing application.
• Training certificate for hi-lift with bucket, tractor trailer and dump truck with wing plow must be presented at time of filing, application.

Responsibilities

• Operate a variety of specialized and heavy-duty equipment safely and efficiently.
• Perform minor maintenance such as greasing, checking fuel and oil levels, and cleaning equipment.
• Report problems with equipment and document them.
• Wear safety equipment as required; work in adverse weather conditions.
