Job summary

TB Excavating, a division of Heller’s Gas, is seeking a Construction Equipment Operator to operate heavy machinery on outdoor sites, travel between job locations, and perform basic vehicle duties. You will conduct pre-operational checks, follow safety procedures, and engage in construction tasks such as framing, utilities work, grading, and snow removal.

The role requires a High School diploma or GED, a valid Class A CDL, and a clean driving record with background checks and drug testing.

Job Overview:

• The Construction Equipment Operator position is responsible for the following:
• Operating heavy equipment to lift, move, or place equipment or materials
• Driving equipment and vehicles (including tri-axle dump trucks) between sites
• Performing basic duties associated with operating heavy equipment and vehicles

Responsibilities and Duties:

• Operate various construction machines and vehicles: Bulldozers, Crawlers, Skid Loaders, Excavators, Backhoes, Tri-Axle Dump Trucks, Work Vans, etc. in a safe and appropriate manner
• Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment and perform regular maintenance and minor repairs when necessary
• Follow all safety procedures while operating equipment
• Perform general construction and maintenance duties including, but not limited to, framing, finishing, underground utilities, final gradings, storm water management, sewer systems, pipe and shovel work, snow removal, etc

Requirements

Education and Experience:

• High School diploma or GED
• Relevant experience preferred with operating heavy equipment
• Familiarity with residential and commercial construction practices
• Valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License
• Employment is conditional on verification of clean driving record, background check(s), and pre-employment/random drug testing

Position Type / Expected Hours of Work:

• This is a full-time position and regular work hours are Monday through Friday, 6:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.in addition to weekends on an as-needed basis with the ability to work outside of or in addition to those hours as needed.

Travel:

• Must be willing to travel and occasionally stay overnight at different job sites.
