Job summary

Republic Services is seeking a HazMat Field Driver/Technician in the Houston area. The role involves transporting hazardous and non-hazardous waste using class A trucks, performing pickups, and ensuring strict compliance with DOT rules. Overnight shifts may be required; weekends are mostly off with occasional exceptions for critical needs.

The position emphasizes safety, accurate documentation, and proactive customer interaction while supporting lab pack and field service tasks as needed.

Qualifications

• Must hold a valid Class A CDL with HazMat and tanker endorsements (or ability to obtain within 90 days).
• Pass 40-hour HAZWOPER Training on hire.
• Ability to lift heavy objects and perform physical loading/unloading tasks.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations for hazardous waste collection, packaging and transportation including placarding and labeling.

Responsibilities

• Safely operate trucks including roll-offs, tankers, gravel trains, tractor-trailers and box trucks.
• Perform LTL pickups.
• Maintain driver documents (logbook, permits, trip reports, waste manifests).
• Comply with DOT regulations for hazardous waste handling and transportation.
• Conduct pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections per DOT requirements.
• Interact with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Participate in Site Safety program and trainings.
