Job summary

Performance Foodservice is hiring an entry-level Driver Trainee to learn tractor trailer and straight truck deliveries across intrastate and interstate routes. You will complete a structured training program, assist experienced drivers, and perform safety checks while delivering and unloading food products.

Ideal candidates are 21+, possess a CDL A, have up to 6 months of driving experience, and hold a valid DOT Health Card. Training runs 8–12 weeks with potential after-hours coverage as needed.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma/GED or Equivalent.
• 0-6 months commercial driving experience.
• Valid CDL A license.
• Must be 21 years of age.
• Meet all State licensing and/or certification requirements.
• Clean MVR for past 3 years.
• Pass post offer drug test.
• Pass road test.
• Attains or has valid current DOT Health Card.
• Able to hand-lift and utilize two-wheeler, lift gate and/or other equipment to move and/or stack product cases/freight of varying size and weight.

Responsibilities

• Attend and complete PFG Entry Level Driver Trainee or Dock to Driver Training Program.
• Ride-with and assist driver trainer during deliveries.
• Perform safety checks (pre/post trip) and inspections per DOT regulations.
• Follow DOT regulations and company safe driving guidelines.
• Inspect trailer for proper loading and secure freight; complete paperwork.
• Drive to and deliver customer orders per route schedule.
• Unload products, verify deliveries, obtain signatures, and handle payments as required.
• Ensure equipment and trailers are secured when not in use.
• Record hours of service daily per DOT and company requirements.
