Job summary

Evergreen Goodwill of Northwest Washington is seeking a Roll Off Truck Driver at the Georgetown Operations Center in Seattle. The role requires operating commercial vehicles, transporting donations, and adhering to DOT rules in a fast-paced environment.

Qualified candidates will have a Washington CDL, 2 years driving experience or completion of a state-certified school, and the ability to communicate in English. The position offers full-time hours, 10-hour days, with a 32–35 USD hourly pay rate.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (not required, but preferred).
  • Must be at least 21 years old to meet interstate CDL rules.
  • 2 years CDL driving experience or graduate of state-certified truck driving school.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English; communicate effectively.
  • Knowledge of DOT regulations and hours of service.
  • Ability to operate in-cab computer systems for tracking and logs.

Responsibilities

  • Drive commercial vehicles to designated locations including inner city routes.
  • Maintain safe, efficient operation of company vehicles.
  • Transport donation containers between centers and Goodwill locations.
  • Move processed goods to stores and transfer stations as needed.
  • Follow DOT rules and perform duties safely and consistently.
  • Support production tasks when required.
  • Maintain safety and customer satisfaction.

About the Position

The "Roll Off" Truck Driver operates commercial vehicles transferring "Open Top" and "Compactor" that our locations utilizes and fills with debre', metal, textiles and unusable products donated. We then transfer to the local Transfer Station in a safe and efficient manner. This position is typically 4 days a week, 10 hours per day. (7am-5pm).

Essential Functions and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties, responsibilities, and activities may change or be assigned at any time with or without notice.

  • Drive commercial vehicles to designated locations including, but not limited to, inner city traffic.
  • Drive and maintain company vehicles in a safe, efficient manner.
  • Transport donation containers from attended donation centers (ADC) to Goodwill locations.
  • Transport processed goods to outlying stores.
  • Transport waste to transfer station.
  • Pick up special donations and deliver goods as requested.
  • Adhere to Seattle Goodwill and DOT rules and regulations.
  • Demonstrate safe work practices through awareness and observation in support of a safety culture; reports any potential hazards or accidents.
  • Build and maintain internal and external customer satisfaction.
  • Perform the functions of production worker when needed.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent but not required
  • Must be at least 21 years of age to meet intra/interstate CDL driving rules.
  • 2 year’s CDL driving experience or be a graduate of a State Certified and Licensed truck driving school
  • Ability to read, write and speak English. Able to communicate with others effectively both verbally and written, including those who have limited English skills.
  • Ability to properly operate in-cab computer system for vehicle tracking and electronic logs.
  • Must have working knowledge of vehicle safety and control systems.
  • Must have knowledge of DOT regulations governing safe driving, hours of service.

Certificates, Licenses, or Registrations:

  • Current Washington State Commercial Driver’s License (CDL)
  • Must meet or exceed the medical standards of the US Department of Transportation(DOT):
    • Proof of insurance with good record
    • Must have a valid MVR (motor vehicle registration)
  • Ability to pass a pre-employment drug test and alcohol test
  • Ability to use a mobile phone
  • Ability to learn new technology and software as related to the job

Physical Abilities

While performing the duties of this job, the employee will be required sit or stand for long periods of time, communicate with other employees by talking and hearing, required to lift and carry items weighing up to 30-40 pounds and to operate a Goodwill commercial vehicle. Specific vision abilities required by the job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Maintain reliable attendance.
