American Driver LLC in Havre de Grace, MD is seeking new CDL graduates to train with a paid mentor, then haul dry van freight along the East Coast and come home every two weeks.
Drivers with six months or more of experience can skip training and start solo. Orientation pays $300 and a bus ticket is reimbursed. After training, late-model tractors and rider options are available for solo drivers.
A new CDL is only worth something once a carrier lets you use it. This fleet does. Recent graduates from Havre de Grace, Aberdeen, Perryville and the rest of Harford and Cecil counties train with a paid mentor, then run dry van freight along the East Coast and come home every two weeks. Drivers with six months or more of experience can skip training and start solo.
3 to 5 weeks on the road, about 200 to 250 hours, beside an experienced mentor. You haul live freight from the start. You learn the lanes, the docks and the paperwork before you are trusted with your own truck. To join, you need a Class A CDL and a completed truck driving school of at least 120 hours.
Freight runs up and down the eastern seaboard and stays well east of the Rockies. Expect drop and hook, preloaded trailers and some live loads and unloads. Home time comes every two weeks.
With 6 months or more of recent tractor-trailer time, you start solo after orientation, and your rate reflects your verified experience.
Orientation runs two days or less. It pays $300 once you are hired, and a one-way bus ticket is reimbursed with a receipt.
A late-model tractor, about 1.5 years old on average, automatic or 10-speed. After training, one approved dog up to 40 pounds may ride with you, and solo drivers may apply for the rider program.
