Job summary

Shepherd Electric Supply in Laurel, MD is seeking a driver for delivery of electrical materials. The role requires a valid CDL Class A, DOT and Medical certification, and at least 3 years of driving with a clean record. You will operate tractors and box trucks, ensuring timely deliveries and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• CDL Class A license required
• Current DOT and Medical Certification cards required
• Minimum 3 years of driving experience with a clean motor vehicle record
• Ability to operate tractor-trailer with manual transmission
• Knowledge of air brake systems
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. regularly and perform the physical requirements of the role
• Available for schedule adjustments as business needs require
• Must pass pre-employment background check and drug screening
• Strong verbal communication skills — you relay information clearly and on time
• Familiarity with the area - delivery routes preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate tractor-trailer and box/flatbed trucks on assigned routes
• Deliver electrical materials accurately and on time to job sites
• Confirm delivery accuracy before departure and document discrepancies
• Communicate proactively with dispatch and branch operations if a delivery is at risk of delay
• Complete thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections
• Operate safely in compliance with DOT regulations and Shepherd standards
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly
• Support warehouse operations during non-driving time when needed
• Represent Shepherd professionally at every delivery; communicate clearly with site personnel
