Job summary

Big Wheels, a unit of UNIVERSAL LOGISTICS, seeks a Class A truck driver to transport freight in the Metro-Detroit area. You will perform pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections, follow DOT regulations, and ensure secure handling of freight while keeping clear records.

The role offers paid per move with up to $295 daily, Monday–Friday with potential weekends, home daily, 50–60 hour weeks, and benefits after 90 days, plus PTO and paid holidays. Two shifts available to accommodate schedules.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 21 years of age.
• Class A CDL.
• 6 months of verifiable tractor trailer experience in the last year.
• Clean driving record with proven safe-driving history.
• No DUI/OWI in the last 5 years.
• No more than 2 moving violations in the last 3 years.
• No more than 2 preventable accidents in the last 3 years.
• Strong time management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Operate a Class A commercial vehicle to transport freight to and from customer locations.
• Conduct pre-trip, en-route, and post-trip inspections of the truck and trailer.
• Follow all DOT regulations, safety procedures, and company policies.
• Secure and handle freight properly (may include loading/unloading depending on the employer).
• Maintain accurate logs, delivery records, and documentation.
• Communicate effectively with dispatch, customers, and other team members.
• Report mechanical issues or safety concerns promptly.
• Adhere to schedules while practicing safe driving habits at all times.
