Job summary

South Texas Veterans Health Care System (STVHCS) seeks a Clinical Documentation Integrity Educator RN to lead the clinical documentation program, improve patient safety and support Utilization Management. The RN reports to the Nurse Manager of Utilization Management and Clinical Documentation Quality and Patient Safety.

The role requires current RN licensure, English proficiency, and experience with documentation improvement processes, with telework available as part of the total rewards package.

Qualifications

• English proficiency for direct patient care and documentation.
• Graduate of a nursing program approved by ACEN or CCNE.
• State license to practice nursing or pending licensure for appointment.

Responsibilities

• Serve as clinical liaison between Health Information Management, Utilization Management and Medical Center staff to ensure accurate documentation.
• Review medical records to identify opportunities for improved documentation and patient safety.
• Lead performance improvement activities related to clinical documentation.
• Develop, implement, coordinate, maintain and evaluate the medical documentation improvement program.
• Provide formal training and education on medical documentation opportunities for clinical staff.
