Job summary

Mount Carmel is seeking a Clinical Documentation Specialist to leverage nursing and coding expertise to improve documentation quality and accuracy across patient records. The role involves review, education, and collaboration with physicians and care teams to support proper code assignment and medical necessity.

You will conduct 1:1 education with physicians, help clarify documentation standards, and contribute to performance improvement initiatives while aligning with Mount Carmel's care

Qualifications

• Requires an Associate/Diploma Degree in Nursing or HIT.
• In absence of a college degree, 3+ years inpatient coder or CDI experience.
• RHIA/RHIT/CCDS/CDIP/CCS may substitute for RN licensure.

Responsibilities

• Directs the integrity of clinical documentation as reviewer, educator and consultant.
• Conducts 1:1 educational sessions with physicians and healthcare staff.
• Collaborates with physicians, care teams and coding specialists on documentation.
• Utilizes systems to track reviews and outcomes.
