Job summary

Mercer University in Macon, GA, seeks an CCJ/JMS Equipment Manager to oversee student equipment check-out/in for the Journalism & Media Studies department. Pay is $10 per hour with 12 scheduled hours per week, starting 08/17/2026 and ending 05/01/2027, under the supervision of Meg Donahue.

Preference is for juniors and seniors who can work two evenings and one day shift; work-study is required and you must not be a Journalism and Media Studies student. Engineering majors encouraged.

Responsibilities

• Inspecting equipment bags for all important items prior to check out.
• Inspecting the bags when returned to ensure all items have been brought back in good order.
• Keeping written check in and check out records of equipment.
• Following up with students with late equipment via email.
• Keeping the equipment room in good order by ensuring all equipment is returned to its proper and organized place.
• Staying in contact with the CCJ director via email on late equipment returns.

A successful candidate will be organized, methodical and reliable. Preference will be given to juniors and seniors who can work two evening shifts and one day shift.

Due to the nature of equipment return, this position is not open to Journalism and Media Studies students.

We would prefer this position to be filled by a student in the Engineering program.

Work-study is a must. Pay: $10 per hour
