Job description

CBRF Caregiver
Bring Comfort, Confidence, and Joy to Every Day

At The Gardens of Mt. Pleasant, caregiving is more than completing a checklist. It is sharing a laugh, offering a steady hand, protecting a resident's dignity, and helping each person enjoy as much independence as possible.

We are looking for a compassionate and dependable CBRF Caregiver who finds purpose in helping others. You will provide personalized care, meaningful companionship, and everyday support in a welcoming residential community. If you lead with empathy, take pride in doing things well, and want your work to make a visible difference, you may be a wonderful addition to our team.

What You'll Do

As a CBRF Caregiver, you will help residents feel safe, respected, comfortable, and connected. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Supporting daily living: Assist residents according to their individualized care plans with bathing, toileting, dressing, grooming, mobility, transfers, dining, and other personal needs.
  • Encouraging independence: Focus on what each resident can do, support personal choices, and provide the right level of assistance without taking away independence.
  • Creating meaningful moments: Offer companionship, encourage socialization, respond promptly to requests, and help residents participate in activities they enjoy.
  • Supporting meals and hydration: Prepare and clean dining areas, serve food and beverages, help residents make selections, and provide dining assistance when needed.
  • Monitoring resident well-being: Observe and document assigned information such as temperature, weight, appetite, and intake and output. Promptly report changes in a resident's condition or needs.
  • Maintaining a comfortable home: Complete resident laundry, room cleaning, bathroom cleaning, common-area upkeep, and other assigned housekeeping tasks.
  • Promoting safety: Follow infection-control procedures, standard precautions, safe body mechanics, and proper transfer techniques.
  • Using care equipment confidently: Operate gait belts, sit-to-stand lifts, mechanical lifts, bath lifts, and other transfer equipment as applicable.
  • Communicating and collaborating: Review daily resident reports, attend designated meetings, coordinate with teammates, and complete shift walkthroughs with relief staff.
  • Responding when it matters most: Report emergencies, suspected abuse or neglect, unusual events, maintenance concerns, and safety risks immediately.
  • Protecting every resident's rights: Maintain confidentiality and consistently follow Resident Rights, HIPAA requirements, facility policies, and professional standards.
  • Helping during emergencies: Assist with resident evacuation and emergency procedures when necessary.
  • Pitching in as needed: Perform other duties assigned by a supervisor to support residents and the community.
What You'll Bring

The best caregivers combine a warm heart with reliability, good judgment, and strong teamwork. Successful candidates will have:

  • Compassion and patience when supporting older adults, individuals with disabilities, and residents who may be ill, distressed, or emotionally upset.
  • Strong time-management skills and the ability to organize care for multiple residents.
  • Clear, respectful communication with residents, families, coworkers, visitors, and vendors.
  • Personal integrity and professionalism, including dependable attendance, punctuality, confidentiality, and appropriate workplace conduct.
  • Flexibility and sound judgment in a busy environment where needs and priorities may change.
  • A team-first mindset and a willingness to help coworkers solve problems and provide excellent care.
  • The ability to work independently while following care plans, policies, procedures, and supervisor direction.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current CBRF certification or CNA license.
  • Ability to meet the physical and emotional demands of the position.
Work Environment

This role is performed primarily indoors throughout the facility in an environmentally controlled setting. Because assisted living is active and people-centered, team members should be comfortable with frequent interruptions and regular interaction with residents, families, visitors, and coworkers.

The position may involve exposure to infectious organisms, blood or other bodily fluids, hazardous waste materials, dust, unpleasant odors, loud noises, and potential injury. Gloves and other necessary personal protective equipment, including gowns, masks, and eye protection, are available and must be used as required.

Physical Requirements

To safely support residents and perform essential job duties, caregivers must be able to:

  • Move frequently and stand or walk for up to 8-12 hours per shift.
  • Occasionally lift or carry up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequently kneel, bend, squat, climb, and reach.
  • Safely use transfer equipment and proper body mechanics.
  • Assist residents during emergency evacuation.
Why This Role Matters

Every shift is an opportunity to make someone's day safer, brighter, and more meaningful. At The Gardens of Mt. Pleasant, you will not simply provide care - you will help residents preserve their choices, routines, relationships, and sense of self.

Join a team where kindness is a skill, dignity is the standard, and your work truly matters.

The Gardens of Mt. Pleasant is committed to maintaining a respectful workplace and providing qualified applicants with equal employment opportunities.
