Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Minimum of two years coding experience.
• Five years coding experience or additional specialty coding certification preferred.
• RHIT, CPC, or CCS certification preferred.
• Proficiency in ICD-10 CM, CPT, and HCPCS coding.
• Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology, disease processes, medical terminology, and pharmacology.

Responsibilities

• Review and validate diagnostic and procedural codes applied by front-end coding and clinical teams.
• Abstract information from the EHR to compile patient databases for research and evaluation.
• Ensure compliance with coding guidelines, third-party reimbursement policies, and regulatory standards.
• Identify patterns and trends in coding data and escalate issues for root-cause analysis.
• Collaborate with colleagues to optimize coding accuracy and efficiency.
