Job description

Program Specialist - Community & Family Programs

Location: Oklahoma City, OK
Pay: $28-$35/hour
Schedule: Full-Time

Position Summary

A local organization is seeking a Program Specialist to support the development, coordination, implementation, and growth of community-based programs and initiatives focused on strengthening children, families, and communities.

This position will work closely with internal teams and community partners to coordinate programs, trainings, outreach efforts, and ongoing initiatives. The ideal candidate is highly organized, comfortable building relationships with a variety of stakeholders, and experienced in managing multiple projects and priorities at once.

This is a great opportunity for someone with experience in community programs, family and children's services, public health, social services, education, nonprofit programs, or community engagement who enjoys both the administrative and people-facing sides of program coordination.

Key Responsibilities
  • Coordinate the development, implementation, and ongoing support of community-based programs and initiatives.
  • Build and maintain relationships with community organizations, program partners, and other stakeholders.
  • Coordinate trainings, including scheduling, trainer coordination, participant engagement, and follow-up.
  • Facilitate meetings and provide presentations to community partners and program participants.
  • Support outreach efforts designed to grow participation and strengthen community partnerships.
  • Provide ongoing support and resources to participating organizations and program members.
  • Assist with program planning, development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Collect, organize, and maintain program data, records, and documentation.
  • Prepare reports, funding-related documentation, program updates, and other materials.
  • Track program activities, outcomes, requirements, and deliverables.
  • Assist with quality assurance and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Develop and distribute program communications and outreach materials.
  • Assist with developing and maintaining program policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Coordinate multiple projects, meetings, trainings, and deadlines simultaneously.
  • Provide high-quality support to internal teams, community partners, and stakeholders.
  • Participate in collaborative initiatives with local, regional, and national partners.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Behavioral Health, Social Work, Public Health, Education, or a related field.
  • At least 2 years of relevant professional and/or educational experience involving areas such as:
    • Children and family services
    • Community or family support programs
    • Public or community health
    • Project or program coordination
    • Community engagement and outreach
    • Health equity or social determinants of health
    • Education or classroom management
    • Other related areas
  • Strong organizational and project coordination skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfortable facilitating meetings, trainings, and presentations.
  • Ability to develop positive working relationships with diverse community partners and stakeholders.
  • Strong documentation, reporting, and recordkeeping skills.
  • Ability to analyze situations, identify needs, and make sound decisions.
  • Comfortable working both independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
Ideal Candidate

The strongest candidate will be someone who has actually coordinated programs, not simply provided direct services. They should be comfortable organizing trainings, facilitating meetings, conducting outreach, working with community partners, tracking program information, preparing reports, and keeping multiple initiatives moving forward at the same time.

Experience within nonprofit organizations, community outreach, public health, social services, education, family services, or children's programs would translate particularly well.
