Description

Duties and Accountabilities:

  1. Performs troubleshooting and rewiring of complex avionics/electronic systems and subsystems discrepancies and modifications.
  2. Performs aircraft inventory, acceptance, and transfer inspections.
  3. Provides technical assistance and guidance as required by the position.
  4. Assists in P&E report preparation.
  5. May be required to perform off-site service on assigned detachments.
  6. Maintains assigned aircraft in accordance with Navy, Manufacturer, and Company Instructions.
  7. Uses provided test equipment and Ground Support Equipment to perform assigned tasks.
  8. Reads, interprets, and applies instructions from Blueprints, schematics, and other approved data.
  9. Assists with ordering parts, tools, materials, and equipment as required.
  10. Documents work accomplished on Maintenance Action Forms (MAF) or NALCOMIS/APAS System.
  11. Familiar with OPNAV 4790.2 Series, Navy Instructions, Manufacturer Manuals, and Company Instructions.
  12. Maintains cleanliness of the work center and around your assigned work area.
  13. Adheres to Foreign Object Damage (FOD) prevention rules and regulations.
  14. Follows Company Tool Control Program.
  15. Complies with safety rules and regulations.
  16. Ensures proper operation and use of special test equipment and Ground Support Equipment.
  17. Maintains records of all work accomplished.
  18. May perform simple computer input functions.
  19. Willing to perform other duties as assigned.
  20. Willing and able to stand rotating shifts.
  21. Willing to travel 25% of the time.
  22. Must attain and maintain necessary security clearances within 6 months.
Qualification Standards

Must have a minimum of High School diploma or equivalent. Must have three (3) years of recent experience (within last six years) in aircraft electrical/avionics maintenance, including corrosion detection, treatment, prevention, and maintenance on avionics/electrical systems, using tools, blueprints, drawings, wiring diagrams, schematics, and safety requirements. Completion of U.S. Armed Forces aircraft avionics school or equivalent, or three years of on-the-job training/experience is required. Must meet government/company licensing/qualification requirements, obtain necessary security clearance, be a US citizen, and obtain CAC card within 6 months.

Physical/Environmental Demands

Work is typically performed in hangar, shop, or flight line environments, requiring physical activities such as climbing, standing, stooping, bending, pushing, kneeling, stretching, walking, and working in tiring positions. May need to lift objects up to 50 pounds. Vision requirements include close, peripheral, depth perception, and focus. Work conditions may vary from comfortable to harsh weather, high noise, fumes, airborne particles, and electrical hazards.

Licensing/Certification Requirements

Must obtain various certifications and training within the first 6 months, including Hazardous Waste, FOD and TCP Awareness, Security Clearance, OPNAV 4790.2, ISO 9001-2000, NALCOMIS, Driver’s License, Support Equipment Operator, ESD Awareness, Fuel Surveillance, Aircraft Towing, Turnup, Egress System, Brake Rider, Hydraulic Contamination, Tire and Wheel, ORM, and possibly Collateral Duty Inspector.
